Privacy Policy

Effective 17 September 2026

The operator's name and a contact email for privacy requests and legal notices are being added to this page.

In short

Your trading journal is private to you. We use your data to run Tradeslo and keep it secure, never to sell or advertise.

Connections to brokers and exchanges are read-only. AI coach questions are processed by Anthropic without training its models. In the community you're known only by the anonymous name you choose.

1. Who we are

Tradeslo is a trading journal and performance analytics service ("Tradeslo", "we", "us"). Tradeslo is operated by its founder (name to be added), in Nigeria. A contact email is being added to this page.

We are responsible for the personal data described here. This policy is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, for people in the European Union and United Kingdom, the GDPR.

2. What we collect

Your account. Your email address, your name, and a password, which is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us.

Your setup. What you tell us during onboarding and in Settings: experience level, markets and instruments, trading style, time zone, currency, goals and broker name.

Your journal. The trades, trading accounts, balances, deposits and withdrawals, strategies, trading plan and rules, reviews, notes, emotions and screenshots you record or import from a CSV file.

Connected platforms. If you connect MetaTrader 4 or 5, we store the account login number and the trades and balance changes your terminal sends. If you connect Bybit or Binance, we store your API key and secret (encrypted, see section 6) and the trade executions the exchange returns. We accept read-only keys only.

The community. The anonymous name and experience badge you choose, your messages, the images you upload, the trade and session snapshots you choose to share, your reactions and any reports you make. We remove hidden photo data such as location and camera details from images before storing them.

The AI coach. The questions you ask, the answers, and how many AI requests you make and what they cost us.

Security and technical data. To stop abuse we count sign-in and sign-up attempts per IP address and per email address; these are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form and cleared out after about a day. Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times.

We don't collect payment card details, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers.

3. How we use it, and why we're allowed to

  • To provide Tradeslo: your journal, analytics, reviews, syncing, the AI coach and the community. This is necessary to perform our agreement with you (our Terms of Service).
  • To keep Tradeslo secure: rate limits, fraud and abuse prevention, moderation of reported community posts, and fixing faults. This is in our legitimate interests and yours.
  • To manage costs fairly: counting AI answers against monthly limits. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To contact you about your account, such as email confirmation, password resets and important changes to these policies. This is necessary to perform our agreement.
  • To meet legal obligations, when the law requires it.

4. The AI coach

When you ask the AI coach a question, or save a weekly review with an AI summary, we send your question and the relevant figures from your analytics (for example your win rate by session) to Anthropic, which provides the AI model. Free-text notes you wrote on trades are not sent. Anthropic processes this data to produce the answer, does not use it to train its models under its commercial terms, and keeps it only for a limited period.

Some questions are answered by Tradeslo's own rules engine without any AI; those answers are labelled as not AI-generated. You can clear your conversation history on the AI Coach page at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data or share it for advertising. We use these service providers, who process data only on our instructions:

  • Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in Ireland (EU).
  • Our hosting provider (currently Netlify): serves the website and app.
  • Anthropic: the AI model behind the coach and weekly summaries (section 4).
  • Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.

Platforms you connect. When you connect Bybit, Binance or MetaTrader, we exchange data with that platform on your instruction. Their own privacy policies apply to what they hold.

Other traders in the community. Other signed-in Tradeslo users see your anonymous name, badge, messages, images and anything you choose to share there. They never see your email, real name, account details or balances, and we never show them which account is behind an anonymous name.

When the law requires it. We may disclose data if we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.

6. How we protect it

Your journal is private to your account: every database request is checked against your identity, so no other user can read it. Exchange API keys and MetaTrader connection secrets are encrypted with a key kept separately from the database, are never shown back to anyone, and are deleted when you disconnect the platform. Connections are read-only, so Tradeslo can never place trades or move funds. All traffic is encrypted in transit.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting your personal data happens, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires. More detail is on our Security page.

7. International transfers

Your data is stored in Ireland and may be processed by our providers in other countries, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

8. How long we keep it

  • Your account and journal: for as long as your account is open.
  • Trades and community messages you delete are hidden straight away and excluded from everything you and others see; the stored record is kept, so your history stays consistent, until your account is deleted.
  • Sign-in attempt counters: cleared out after about a day.
  • AI usage records: for as long as your account is open, so limits and costs can be checked.
  • When your account is deleted, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law.

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • have inaccurate data corrected (most of it you can edit yourself in the app);
  • have your data deleted, including your whole account;
  • object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • complain to a data protection authority: in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission; in the EU or UK, your local authority.

To use these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. Account deletion and data copies are handled on request for now; we will respond within 30 days.

10. Cookies

We use only cookies that Tradeslo needs to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Sign-in cookies set by our authentication provider, which keep you signed in and secure the Google sign-in step.
  • Preference cookies that remember your selected account, date range, theme and whether the sidebar is collapsed.

11. Age

Tradeslo is for adults. You must be at least 18 to use it, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and show the new effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
